SUMMARY
If immigrants are not able to adapt to new environment, they maybe has some psychological and physiological reactions that caused by culture shock. When psychological and physiological systems interact, both of them will be ill. Culture adaption should depend on personal tolerance to cross-culture. Your willingness to learn new culture is also important. Because ambiguity is major reason resulting in stress, learning how to accept ambiguity is a way to adapt yourselves to new environment but you do not need to abandon your identity.
Reflection
I totally agree with this author’s viewpoint, because I have same symptom as he mentions when I transferred to another school only from one city to another city. I was easier to become disappointed and get sick during the time I have not adopted to the new condition. Maybe also that is the first time I changed my life style, so I needed to take long time to change my attitude. Once I used to expose myself to new environment, I can deal with this problem easier. In addition, the exchanged students’ adaption is also a problem we should discussed deeply, because the world becomes a global village so that ourselves also would encounter this problem some day.

Because of election of American president, the question of racial identity is mentioned. But why people's behavior is valued by his or her race? This is the question worthy of thinking. But on the other hand, when this new half-black

This author tells us about what is “immigrant family” and what kinds of difficulties they will encounter during adaptation process. In addition, the author says that counselor is helpful to them, because he or she can become a role who would know situation of each members of family, and then builds a bridge between them. These ideas give me a new concept. I have not thought that family also has problems until I read this essay. Perhaps, once the problems are solved in family first, the new social identity in their new environment would be lesser pressure on them.

meeting with teacher Liang (2)
Before meeting with my teacher, Emma Liang, I wrote an outline of my research paper to discuss. I asked teacher Liang how to arrange it would be great, and she told me that I could choose the appropriate part of my interview about foreign student to support some main ideas in different paragraphs.
In addition, teacher Liang told me some faults in my article. For example, sometimes I use wrong adverbs to link sentences together, so she suggest me to read the last chapter to know how to use them. Besides, I also make some mistake about wrong on sentence.
I will improve these defects as soon as possible to show better research paper in the end of this semester.

Revise
In contrast to old methods of education, now teachers change their ways to teach students to write. Instead of writing instruction from finished products, they like to let students experience the process of writing. Moreover, teachers also want students to try different kinds of article and to share their writings to different ranges of people. Some promoters which support this method teach students to know some kinds of literary form and their relationships to mode, aim, audience and media. In addition, we can not deny that computer has shifted composition. Also, in most new schools, they set some computers in classroom, and even make an area which provides students with computers to write, and teachers also teach students how to use online resource. Due to benefits from nonprint media to modern writers, teachers also should suggest students involve in writing for media.
According to this article, we can deeply know that we can not just use old way to write nowadays. Going through the whole process instead of learning from finished products maybe is really good to us, because we can more realize our work. For example, when we start to plan our topic, we can choose what we want to write and which information we want to use. Furthermore, when write the article which we are interested in, we may encounter less choke points, and even though we have some difficulties, we also can solve it with less unhappiness. Besides, I agree with the author that we should write not only for teachers but also for real audiences. Because writing has some influence, it might change people’s concepts and decisions. Through writing articles, we can find some problems by chance which we do not pay much attention to. Or, even though we ever notice those issues, we do not realize its reason and situation until we look for some information to write them.
I also admit that computer plays an important role in writing. When I was a freshman in English department, I was unfamiliar with using computer to write, and I thought it would obstruct me to think what I want to express. However, one year passed, I have found the advantages of writing on computer. With computer we need not to re-write all articles when I want to add new ideas or delete some wrong paragraphs. And surfing on the Internet to look for information is more convenient than searching in library. Since I overcame the sense of exclusion to computer writing, my writing has become more abundant.
I think this shift is good for us. It makes us understand some issues around the world, and let us know the reason why should we writ issues. If we do not participate in whole process of writing, we can not know the pleasure. And writing on computer is more efficient, writing for media will make your idea more popular. The appropriate change will be good for us and we also need to prepare a new attitude to accept it.

Meeting with Teacher Liang
Before I met with teacher Liang, I had been worried about my essay for which topic I should write” Racial Discrimination: just made by white man?” or ”Is Necessary for Cash aid For the Allies Diplomacy”. In the end, I chose former.
During discussion, teacher Liang analyzed these two topics to me. She said that former topic is a creative topic which some teachers of English department are also interested in, so I can get more information from them. By contrast, latter one is more difficult to me. After all, I am not professional of politic.
I totally agreed with teacher Liang because when I wrote first topic, I had a lot of my own idea because during high school life, my teachers made us see a lot of movies about race. However, I wanted to change my topic due to less information I searched on line. But during the procession of writing second topic, I fell into another problem that I only had little opinion, because I noticed this issue seldom. Thus, I could not write it deeply and precisely.
Teacher Liang also told me that the reason why I only searched little information is that I keyed in wrong key words. I should input the words such as “immigrant”, “cultural adaption”, “racial identity” and “international relationship”. Teacher Liang also suggested me that I can go to interview exchange student and ask them how they adapted themselves to a new condition and give a visit to foreign workers to ask them some question what is point of view they want to be given.
I thank Teacher Liang very much for helping me look for right direction of my report. If I insisted in my opinion, my report would be boring and myself would be exhausted and have no interested in it.

Here are some reason why Taiwan should provide foreign aid. First, when Taiwan was in the difficulty, foreign country has given a hand helping us, so we should repay to international society. I do not agree the second reason, because if we have no ability to follow the trend, our economic situiation will become worse. The prestige is not as important as people's live.

Reflection
I agree with the viewpoint that we should focus on the Taiwan’s financial status. There are still many people in Taiwan are too poor to live, and we should take care of them first, and then help other countries. We can not say money diplomacy is wrong because it still has some function to strengthen our international status, but how to avoid becoming a way to corruption is an important question.

馬英九說國民黨執政時期沒有金錢外交，其實當他擔任蔣經國英文秘書時國民黨早已在搞金錢外交了，那是由於國民黨「外交數字的迷思」。
漢賊不兩立金援拼外交
傑出的外交家葉公超早已看出我國必須更改在聯合國的名稱「中華民國」，才能夠避免中華人民共和國進入聯合國之後把中華民國踢出該組織。但他具有睿智與遠見的建言不僅未得蔣介石的採納，反而被摘去外交部長的烏紗帽，且永不錄用，以致後來生活頻頻陷於困境。由於蔣介石堅持漢賊不兩立，以致我國不但被逐出聯合國，且世界上主要國家都被迫與我國斷交，有人比喻蔣介石的漢賊不兩立就像油漆時由外向內，最後把自己困在牆角動彈不得。日本與我國斷交後影響不大，但一九七九年美國與我國斷交後所產生的連鎖反應，使得台灣的邦交國快速流失。當只剩下三十幾個外交國時執政的國民黨開始急著了，於是展開金錢外交來鞏固尚存的邦交國，一來為了面子，二來為了免得國人對其失去信心而危及政權。
國民黨為了維持邦交國的數目動用巨額外匯儲備去鞏固邦交國，以免邦交國數字減少，有人稱其為「外交數字的迷思」。但陳水扁當了總統以後卻仍然與李登輝一樣，花了許多的人力與物力來鞏固剩下的幾個邦交國，就不知道他到底也有外交數字的迷思，還是因為每當任何一個邦交國被中國搶走的時候，國民黨總是嚴厲的譴責執政的民進黨，他們好像忘了台灣外交處境如此艱難根本是他們的總裁惹出來的禍，何況挖台灣邦交國的又是他們的友黨—中國共產黨。
用外匯儲備討好邦交國
經濟援助貧窮的邦交國以鞏固外交關係免於被中國搶走，從蔣經國時代就已經開始，截至一九八四年為止，據官方統計已超過十一億美元。至於一九八四年至一九九四年之間的援外金額，筆者雖無資料佐證，但相信必然是個龐大的金額。
李登輝和陳水扁總統任內，不僅先後兩位總統與外交部長都花了許多寶貴的時間去討好那些見錢眼開的邦交國，更花了鉅額的外匯儲備去鞏固外交關係。譬如，一九九四年免掉尼加拉瓜一千七百萬美元的債務。一九九六年贈送尼日共和國五百萬美元供其興建學校，並貸予五千萬美元供其進行小農計畫。一九九七年七月捐給賴比瑞亞一百萬美元，助其舉行總統與國會大選。那年九月又貸款五千萬美元給五個中南美的邦交國，並允諾提供二億四千萬美元做為中美洲經貿發展基金。一九九九年在胡志強外交部長任內給了巴紐二億五千萬美元，但不幸三天就斷交了。以上加起來外交數字迷思總共至少已經耗掉台灣十七億三百萬美元的寶貴外匯儲備，最近引發政治風暴，迫使邱義仁和黃志芳辭職的三千萬美元巴紐建交款還不包括在內。

台灣從一九八○年以來擁有令世界羨慕的龐大外匯儲備，它們到底是怎麼來的？長期的貿易順差是台灣巨額外匯儲備的主要來源。貿易順差的公式是出口總額減掉進口總額，所以必須出口多於進口才能夠產生，而台灣曾經一度外匯儲備冠全球是從一九六四年開始大都處於貿易順差的狀況，加上國人長期的節儉與節制，因而出口大於進口，所以才會有巨額貿易順差的產生，得來相當艱辛與不易。外匯儲備既然得來不易，按理應該用在刀口上，而我國卻因外交數字的迷思，浪費在對台灣安全沒有其必要性且對經濟無所助益金錢外交上。
由於台灣的外匯儲備只用在外交上，所以國人對外匯儲備的用途非常陌生。外匯儲備最原始的作用是用來交換本國並不生產的東西，以便充裕物質來滿足國人物質上的需求，這正是國際貿易產生的原因。不僅如此，外匯儲備還有如下作用，首先是，抑制通貨膨脹調節物價：如果物價因通貨膨脹而大幅上的話，中央銀行就可運用外匯儲備從市場回收本國貨幣，使到處流竄的本國貨幣回籠，如此一來物價自然就會回軟。像二○○七年下半年中國的通貨膨脹超過六％，本來就該動用外匯儲備從市場回收人民幣以期降低通貨膨脹，但中共沒這麼做顯示外匯儲備不敷運用，雖然中國自稱擁有世界第一的外匯儲備。第二，可以用來向外國購買新技術的Know How與外國的智慧財產，以便提升本國技術。第三，可向外國購買先進武器，以充實國防力量。第四，可用於仁道援助，以便救助受到地震和海嘯等天然災害，因而需要援助的國家。第五，可用來打銷銀行的呆帳：台灣前些年替幾家銀行打銷呆帳，用的就是外匯儲備。

編按：巴紐的外交醜聞案喧騰至今仍真相未明，但台灣國際形象已受重創，台灣的外交工作人員更是士氣低迷，這個醜聞案也讓我們重新思考台灣外交的未來走向。
台灣的外交史大略可分為二個時期：一是兩蔣的「漢賊不兩立」時期，二是李登輝、陳水扁的「曖昧台獨」時期。前者因國際大環境的因素，外交工作充滿失敗主義氛圍；後者則因選舉考量與兩岸關係交惡，外交工作處處烽火，也可以視之為中共打壓下的反彈。
馬英九上任後，台灣的外交應該進入一個新的時代，台灣要重新思考未來外交領域該如何經營。幾位資深的優秀外交官員異口同聲地表示，「兩岸關係」是台灣未來外交工作的首要因素。祇有搞好兩岸關係，才可能與中共在外交戰場上休兵；祇有外交休兵，才能破除邦交國數字迷思；祇有不以邦交國數字來評斷外交工作績效，才能擺脫金援外交的噩夢。
新時代來臨，台灣的外交也應當有新思維與新政策。
就在扁政府下台一鞠躬的前夕，爆發震驚海內外的巴紐外交醜聞，兩名外交掮客加上幾個蠢蛋官員，把台灣的國際形象弄得殘破不堪，不但讓外國人看笑話，更讓本國人傻眼。在新政府即將上台之際，檢討當前台灣外交政策的聲浪不斷高漲，看在幾位資深外交老兵的眼裡，又有怎樣的想法？
「中華民國的外交處境可以說是史無前例！」前外交部長程建人直言，無論是支持統或獨的人，都是為了台灣的生存與發展。因此，如何維持一個適當的外交局面是相當重要的，否則別說台灣是一個主權獨立的國家。
要有全新思維 外交是國防的第一線
數十年來我們的外交政策，因為國內外情勢的變化，雖然有做過若干的調整，但是兩岸的外交競爭卻始終沒有減緩，程建人透露，「所以在過去的外交政策上，會一直設法去維持邦交國的數量。」
馬英九日前曾說，未來將發展務實外交，因為大陸擁有一百七十一個邦交國，遠遠領先我們的二十多國，兩岸必須先談休兵，才能將拓展外交與兩岸談判做密切結合，為台灣開創新的空間。
對此，程建人則深表贊成。他強調，未來的外交新思維，就是要如何和中國大陸達成「外交休兵」，他進一步解釋，並拋出幾個值得思考的議題：
第一、外交休兵的內涵如何，是否雙方在兩邊或多邊關係上能維持現況或可以做調整？
第二、其他國家，例如美國或日本的可能反應如何？是否會調整對兩岸的關係？究竟是有利或有損於我們在國際社會中的利益和地位。
最後，還要做最壞的打算，如果兩岸無法達成外交休兵，馬英九又該如何去推動對外關係？

Because the scandal about cash aid for the allies diplomacy has broken out, the necessity of donating money to allies becomes a question. According to the report which was written by Gong-Ping Xiao in Sina Magazine online, he said that this policy is a myth for Taiwanese, because there has been no advancement but has made our foreign exchange reserves wasted. His viewpoint reminds Taiwanese and the new government to think if the money should be used in other helpful ways; for example, buying some new technology to improve our national defense.

If our nationals do not live safely and have no money to live, this policy attends to the superficial and neglect the essentials. Diplomacy is an important issue, but if we cannot ensure our people could live sufficiently, the policy is just a heavy burden to our people.

Racial Discrimination: just made by white man?
Nowadays, we usually hear about some news about racial discrimination. And when we refer to this topic, we usually think of some white men’s bad attitude to black men. But is this true about the fact? Maybe there are more races have something to do this problem, or this is not just a unidirectional influence.
When we observe the streets in Taiwan, we can see many foreign workers from southeast Asia whom Taiwanese do not like to approach to. Therefore, we could know that this problem is not a single event but worldwide. And in the movie “ Crash “, we can learn that different races have mistrust each other, so this reason has brought about a lot of tragedies. Thus, we can say that this obstacle is built by each race’s inner fear.
