Because the scandal about cash aid for the allies diplomacy has broken out, the necessity of donating money to allies becomes a question. According to the report which was written by Gong-Ping Xiao in Sina Magazine online, he said that this policy is a myth for Taiwanese, because there has been no advancement but has made our foreign exchange reserves wasted. His viewpoint reminds Taiwanese and the new government to think if the money should be used in other helpful ways; for example, buying some new technology to improve our national defense.
Another news about this topic has also been written by another reporter, Huan-cheng Lin, in The Journalist. The report mentioned that we should modify the relationship between China and Taiwan, because this vicious competition is main reason to this issue.
In my opinion, I think we should not put such huge money to this policy. Before helping other countries to add the number of diplomatic allies, we should strengthen Taiwanese people’s trust to the government. If our nationals do not live safely and have no money to live, this policy attends to the superficial and neglect the essentials. Diplomacy is an important issue, but if we cannot ensure our people could live sufficiently, the policy is just a heavy burden to our people.
